چکیده
Abstract Despite the rich photochemistry of 3d‐metal complexes, utilization excited‐state reactivity these compounds in organic synthesis has been historically overlooked. The advent photoredox catalysis changed perception synthetic chemists towards photochemistry, and nowadays potential photoinduced, outer‐sphere single‐electron transfer events is widely recognized. More recently, an emerging new mode photoactivation taken spotlight, based on inner‐sphere triggered by population ligand‐to‐metal charge‐transfer (LMCT) excited states. Contrarily to photoredox, LMCT‐activation does not rely matching redox potentials, offers unique profiles particularly well suited Earth‐abundant metal complexes. Those appealing features are propelling development methods using this blueprint generate highly reactive open‐shell species under mild conditions. aim contribution provide a didactical tool for comprehension concept facilitate methodologies achieve sustainable chemical transformations.

Charge-transfer mediated photochemistry in alkene–O2 complexes
The photochemistry of a series of alkene–O2 complexes was studied in a supersonic expansion using a resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization probe of the O(P j) photoproduct at 226 nm. The relative yield of oxygen atoms from each complex was correlated to the ionization potential of the alkene species and indicates that initial excitation of an intermolecular charge-transfer state mediates the...

Mixed-valence (partial charge transfer state) and segregated stacking are the key factors for constructing organic metals. Here, we discuss the ionicity phase diagrams for a variety of charge transfer systems to provide a strategy for the development of functional organic materials (Mott insulator, semiconductor, superconductor, metal, complex isomer, neutral-ionic system, etc.).

A phase transition in an organic charge-transfer complex, which originates from the neutral-ionic valence instability, can be tuned toward zero kelvin with use of external pressure or chemical modification as a control parameter. The phase diagram and observed dielectric behaviors are typical of quantum paraelectricity, yet this zero-kelvin transition point namely, the quantum critical point, a...
